Persistently coursing at or above tree tops at an opening in a heavily forested area. Seen in mid-late afternoon; waited 25 minutes for it to come down but it never did; light was declining due to building rainclouds and all I could manage was some poor images. Looking at it with my bins, I could not see any thorax or abdomen color or obvious marks, it appeared to be all dark brown or black. Hoping someone can confirm id, or at least get to genus. I also think it's WAY early for an emerald to be out, but it sure looked like one to me. I think the images are all the same individual, but am not 100% confident; although it's a side view, the individual in images 3 and 4 appears to have an abdomen that looks less long and less tapered than the view from straight below (as seen in images 1, 2, 5 and 6).
