Marsh Cinquefoil
Date: 6 July 2013
Time: 9:53 AM
Directions: South down Delphi Rd coming from TESC. About 5 miles down, Mclane Nature Trail will be on the right. This was found along the boardwalk over the marshy/water area.
Weather: Mild, partly cloudy
Habitat: Marsh, partially submerged?
Species seen: Cattails, smartweed, some sort of invasive knotweed?, fireweed, Indian plum too I think.
Comments: Smelled bad, maybe flies are the obligate pollinators? Similar leaf as Silverweed.. Interesting plant.
Overcast in the morning turning to sunny and clear with a few scattered clouds.
Habitat: Wetland
Full to dappled sun
Plant associations: cattails
Reddish-purple flowers, 5 sepals and petals, in terminal clusters.
Leaves light green, alternate, pinnately divided into 5-7 leaflets that are oblong in shape and coarsely toothed.
Shoot in captivity. Fascinating, but makes me a little sad. The animals have large enclosures and hopefully a good life. Shoot at Langedrag near Tunhovd.
