An enjoyable walk with Grandson in Fairy Glen. Someone had sprinkled "Fairy Dust" along the footpaths in the wood and near the stream (River Tawd) Jack loved it. I do love this time of year with the many flowers, noise of the running water and birds in full song. Help with the flower we have tried to identify many times, will be appreciated.
Shiny arrow-shaped leaves with hooded flowers; Each flower is a central purple rod (the spadix- separate male & female flowers) enclosed by a translucent hood (the spathe)
Unpleasant smell which attracts flies for pollination.
Also known as Kingcup. A large buttercup with big, glossy, deep-green, kidney-shaped leaves.
Bright yellow flowers look like giant buttercups. Clumps along River Tawd - in Fairy Glen still a stream.
Broad pointed leaves smell of garlic. Carpet marshy ground next to stream. White clusters of star-shaped flowers.
Pale yellow flowers, with darker orange centres. Rosette of oval leaves with rather wrinkled edges.
From the upper axils of the middle and upper leaves, there are nodding umbels of 1-5 flowers.
The flowers are whitish green or pale yellowish green .
