I thought this might be a better way to communicate to everyone at once and allow for some exchange.
We started our 2nd round of insect surveys this week and had another successful night of surveying at Pease Park last night and are looking forward to another round at Roy G. Guerrero metro park tonight. I am planning on moving the lights a little bit tonight but should still be easy to locate. For those that are planning on coming and haven't been to the park before just drive in and look for the white sheets and lights. I will get out there starting around 6pm to set everything up but it doesn't get dark until about 8pm.
If you know anyone else that might be interested in coming to our mothing events tonight or next week (we are still doing Pease Park next Wednesday and Roy G. Guerrero Park on Thursday) then please feel free to tag them on this thread. We would love to have them along.
The student feedback so far has been that they have had a lot of fun at the events and they all commented that it was great to meet some of the iNaturalist community.
I also wanted to say "thank you" to those that have also been helping to identify the insect images in the project. I know that some of the images have not been ideal and I am working with those students to take better pictures but it is a work in progress. I have also had a number of students show up from other classes and so they haven't training in how to properly photograph insects at the lights. That is something that I will have to consider on how to approach in the future.
I look forward to seeing some of you tonight and next week.
