I work on continental freshwater and terrestrial molluscs. I specialise in the ecology of wetland molluscs, particularly those found in the floodplains of large rivers. I am also interested in urban ecology and environmental archaeology.

To identify molluscs as accurately as possible, please observe the following rules when taking photographs:

  • Gastropod shells should also be photographed from below and from the side, with the mouth facing the camera lens; otherwise, you won't see all the identifying features.
  • In the case of bivalves, it is advisable to photograph both sides of the shell, the cleaned top of the shell, and a detail of the point of attachment (ligament).

I am one of the editors of the journal Malacologica Bohemoslovaca, which is primarily concerned with ecofaunistic research on European continental molluscs.
