About me:
I am a professional medical parasitologist. Entomology is primarily a hobby but it does come into play in my job in the identification of arthropods of medical/public health concern.

My role here is primarily a specialist on Nearctic Elateridae and Throscidae (click beetles).

Please read the following before flagging me:

1. Please do not flag me for elaterids (or beetles in general) outside of the continental US, Canada, and Alaska. I don't want to appear uncooperative, but I don't have experience with extralimital taxa. Sorry.
2. If you would like me to ID beetles other than Elateridae or Throscidae from North America, please flag my profile name so I will see them. My expertise in other families varies based on taxa and geographic distribution.
3. In order to avoid having to sift through too many comment bubbles on things I have already reviewed, I have started to 'Unfollow' EVERYTHING. If there is anything you need me to go back and revisit or explain in detail, please flag my name so I am aware of it. Thanks.
4. I am not infallible. If you feel I have made a misidentification of need explanation, please reach out and flag me.
5. I will no longer put identifications on dead specimens that have been poorly preserved or mounted. If you want a dead specimen identified, please mount it properly per collection standards.

For those of you who collect models, toys, and figures of your favorite critters, I am an administrator for the Animal Toy Forum and editor for Animal Toy Blog. I have probably the most extensive collection of insect/arthropod figures :-D
