I post photos then I exist

I post photos then I exist.
This is what I have come to think after having seen the tons of photos of cultivated plants and animals in captivity posted every day on iNaturalist. This would not be a problem if this peculiar kind of users (this definition aims at trying to be extremely polite and politically correct) would make the effort to check the box "cultivated/in captivity". I this would be done, the users that are not interested in these garbage posts could exclude them just by checking the box "wild" when looking for observations.
In many case it is just because the "I post photos then I exist" users are new and unaware of the guidelines, in other cases just checking that box seems to be far from their reach or, simply, they are so superficial not having noticed that the site is dedicated to wild living beings.
I have the feeling that this is a losing "battle" and that all these generalist observations of non-wild beings will worsen the quality of the site.

I agree with this, though I hate to discourage "budding" natural historians. A related issue I have is folks posting photos which are extremely blurry (not just slightly out of focus), but completely unidentifiably bad photos. Seems like a waste of everyone's time. Also photos with no location or location obscured for no apparent reason.

thanks for your comment.
Some new naturalists have replied positively writing that they did not know this issue.
Some others just did not reply.
I think that we all should raise this issue (but it seems that it has already been raised many times in the past) and try to raise awareness among the users of our own country.

I recently started using the application and did not pay attention to the line "cultivating". Frankly speaking in the application there is not a word that the goal of the project is the creation of a single atlas of wild plants and animals, I downloaded it as an identifier. Thank you for drawing my attention to this.
It turns out, I need to photo only wild plants? Is it better to remove observations with cultured ones?

No, I am pretty sure that photos of cultivated plants or animals in captivity are welcome and you are only asked to check the specific box before submitting the observation. That's all.

Checking that box does very much help and saves time for people like me that come to review identifications of posted photos...

Hi blue, I would also like you to have a box for cultivated / captive. What guidelines are there? I ask you why I have recently been on this site.
It is not a losing battle and that all these generalistic observations of non-wild beings will worsen the quality of the site.
