Bats are one of the most common types of native mammals in the Australian Capital Territory however because of their secretive nocturnal behavior we know very little about them.

ACT Batwatch lets citizen scientists (you!) improve our knowledge about the bats of the Australian Capital Territory. If you see or find a bat you can record where it was and what it was doing. This information will help us understand what species live here, where they live, what they do.

If you don't know what sort of bat it was you can send a photo or description to our experts for identification.
