Found under a dead branch with a colony of Camponotus pennsylvanicus. Unfortunately it was spent but still in really good condition especially if it emerged June of last year.
gray, multi-branched, brown apothecia/pycnidia. on weathered split rail fence.

Found on the nasal ala/alar crease of a Homo sapiens sapiens, using a gentle deep skin scrape procedure that didn't involve any capillary bleeding.
First mite measures ~210um x 44um
Second mite ~334um x 34um

growing on a hemlock branch and also on leaf debris underneath a rock overhang along the trail.
For NJ statewide bioblitz. Safely returned to burrow. Note pronotum with cephalo-lateral angles extending well past mesal portion. Inner hooks with 5+ setae.
Parasitic wasps from a single Marmara cf fraxinicola pupa. Pupa collected in late May; not sure when wasps emerged.
Weird color. Looked like a bee or hornet. Furry. Acted like a horsefly. Never ever seen one before.
