Petalcutting bee that couldn't cut a petal. Observed attempting to cut several different petals on these sundrops, but all she managed was to bruise the edge.

Accidentally cut open this nest filled with petal wrapped cocoons. It was in Rumex crispus, going to seed and I was removing the top to prevent it from spreading. There was a larvae moving at the cut opening so I cut below the node to take it in and see what was inside.
There was the one adult bee that came with it. But it is male and he is entered as a separate entry.

Megachile cutting petals for her nest. She carried them down to the stems in the brush and seemed to be shoving them into a cracked stem at the base of the flowers. There is that Silver-tailed Petal-cutting bee, maybe she is one of those?

It is unusual to see pollinators at Vinca flowers, so I started snapping photos of this native bee. It was not gathering pollen or nectar--but cutting petals for its nest. (Such smooth cuts!) Note: The order of these photos is last to first.
