Mallee 3 metres tall. Bark smooth, tan over grey. Leaves glossy, green. Buds maturing bright red. Growing with Eucalyptus socialis subsp. socialis, E. gracilis and E. oleosa subsp. oleosa.
Low growing shrub in windswept, rocky location. Juvenile leaves narrow elliptic, serrated with rusty hairs on the underside especially along the mid-vein. Adult leaves larger, some with a few teeth, others entire, hairs fewer and paler. Inflorescence the characteristic steel-grey of this species.
