I saw his head sticking up in the waves about 1/2mi out in the lake seemingly heading towards St. Helena Island during my initial scan in the morning. About 15min later he made the wise decision to return to shore directly in front of me. I was expecting him to barely be able to walk ashore after all of that swimming but he began to run through the water and then into the forest. A very memorable experience

Mayan cichlid x Texas cichlid hybrid (Mayaheros urophthalmus x Herichthys cyanoguttatus)
Found this one slowly emerging from its molt. Very excited to have found this at the right time.
You can faintly see the blue glow in these two images, which were shot with a bright flashlight and my iPhone. It's sort of in the middle of the creature, hanging across the curtain of droplets.
The Wormsnake.
This little snake may have received its name because: 1) it lives under ground, like a worm; 2) it looks similar to a large worm; or 3) worms make up part of its diet. Pick which one you like best!
