It's rare to find Phycodrys rubens in full fruit. These are very fertile fronds showing the detail of antherid on the lobed fronds.
The internet is usually the place to confirm much of what we find but it is lacking illustrations depicting and text describing the fertile tetraspore formed in oblong or liner marginal sori found at the apices of the lateral veins - that's what we see. But these are unusual fronds, not at all like the ones commonly found and after which the rather inappropriate name Sea Oak comes.
