1543 - it's unfortunate I can't load 2 short video clips I took of this eruption. Swallows and shrikes and grey-go-away birds and cape starlings were cashing in on the feast...as the flying ants took to the sky they were being snatched up in the beak of one or other of these birds..the eruption went on for about 15 minutes

Heads of soldier termites left on Stromatium longicorne. For the beetle, see https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/217694621
Per Gerry Wegner, it's likely that this cerambycid passed through a termite gallery or two as it eclosed and gnawed it's way out of the tree in which it developed, thereby disturbing colony routines and provoking defense action by some soldiers.
