Photos show the "knots" of Knot Grass. Overwintering corms. Identifiable by knots, strongly hairy leaf sheaths, and culm a bit swollen above nodes. Habitat river side, in an area inundated part of the year.

1st photo - Two individuals.
2nd photo - One individual.
These were about 2 inches long, perhaps slightly longer. My guess is that they are immature/not full size.
Upstream, in deeper water, was a pincher and arm segment the entirety of which was longer than these individuals. I did not wade into the deeper water to fetch the disembodied pincer.
