I love these guys! They are so sure their camouflage has them covered that it's no problem getting close with an iPhone.
A stunning display of colour!
A final goodbye from Rosalind, our friendly neighbourhood mantis
Remember that song...Hands up Baby?.....Photo taken during snow storm
Washed up at Omaha estuary.
The biggest and weirdest looking jellyfish I have ever seen!
Although it came in my daughter's favourite colours she wasn't keen to touch it!
What is that smaller whitish jellyfish next to it? Is it part of it or a different individual?
Mecolaesthus putumayo seems to be the only species known from Colombia so far, but might be heavily understudied...

Less than half an hour after posting the previous spider pic I found this asshole in another part of my house 😱😢
Rescued from kitchen sink. Released beside Tiny's home in case he was looking for love. He immediately leapt onto her web and ran inside. She chased him out, and they faced each other. She went back inside and he parked himself at her door for a few hours at least. He may be there yet . Or someone may be lunch.
Penultimate photo is him on her web; last photo is the two of them meeting.
Amaurobius fenestralis (Ström, 1768), female, extracted from beech leaf litter using Berlese funnel, Gribskov near Kagerup, Denmark, 27 January to 16 February 2018
My friend took this photo of a coyote sleeping on his patio. The coyote looks very relaxed.
This cicada was crawling on the sidewalk, so I decided to help it out and placed it on a nearby tree. Now it wouldn't be stepped on.
