Part 4: First close encounter.
The Fox again turned around and followed the grassy lane towards me. It had to pass me at a distance of less than 3 m. But somehow it must have realized that there was something strange and when it was closest it even stepped towards me. It then was about 1.5 m in front of me. (The leading pic is not a detail. That is the full photo.) In that situation I relied on rabies being extinct in western Europe.
Only when the Fox was directly in front of me, I could realize what a small animal this was. This must have been a youngster, less than one year old. Maybe this explains the overtrustful behaviour.
