My travel from Canada to Madagascar generated an estimated environmental impact of 6,3 tons of CO2. Instead of “compensating” this negative effect by paying 280$ CAN in this case, I prefer to have a direct positive effect on the countries that I visit. For this particular trip, I donated 215$ US to the rainforest conservation fund of Stony Brook University, to support activities of the ValBio center (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/centre-valbio/index.html).

Doing a little iNatting on a road trip from Iowa back to Texas- no better way to stretch the legs! The rest stop/Missouri Welcome Center just past the Iowa border into Missouri on I-35 Southbound has a fantastic pollinator garden and there were quite a few butterflies, some dragonflies, and some birds. I got out of my car to walk the trail around the garden, saw a dragonfly, and immediately went back to the car to get the camera.
