Mr.Mrs.Cangoos, As soon as I called to them they left their nesting site, went over to their rock, then came over for their 1st din din this year.
Sooo good to have them back again!! This is the earliest they have ever returned...and I have no problem with that!!! :)

When I came outside this morning, the birds were louder than normal. So I walked along the trees, looking thru each tree one at a time, looking for all the noise or what was causing it. When I got to the 3rd tree, at first I didn't see anything but realized I was looking at this Hawk. I uploaded a couple of the wider photos so you can see how well it blends in to the tree.

Experts - What is going on here? This male American Kestrel sure did seem to have the hots for this female Merlin. He kept trying to get close to her and even brought her a few treats (insects?) from the grass beneath the fence. She accepted the treats but didn't seem thrilled with the attention. However, when he flew off, she followed him...

Drama. These guys all normally get along pretty well, but here a squirrel decided to start something and nearly got kicked in the head as reward. Moments later they were back to munching sunflower seeds side-by-side again.

Continuing- this is the same owl, she was just so beautiful I just wanted to show case the close ups separately. She let me walk right up to almost touching her, before silently winging across the yard over to the pine trees, closely followed by the 'Blue Brigade' who perched in another pine & shouted their disapproval.for the next 1/2 hour,until she obviously decided to move back further into the woods,
These Owls have the most beautiful soft looking eyes...sooo unpredator looking!
