I have had this entity identified as Chamaesyce (Euphorbia) hyssopifolia by the Queensland Herbarium, years ago. It doesn't look like a good match to me. I have looked at all AVH records for Euphorbia in the Townsville area and can't find a match.

A very low growing grass to 300 mm high growing with a sedge. Inflorescence 50 mm without awns, 80 mm with awns. nodes 70 mm apart, leaves 100 mm x 1 mm. Located in a shallow dish drain along the road.

Very delicate fine grass growing to about 1 m tall with inflorescence 250 - 300 mm and small florets of about 1.5 mm to 0.5 mm in size. Leaves quite narrow under 0.7 cm. Located at the fringe of Banksia/Melaleuca open wet woodland and adjoining Open Eucalyptus forest.

The grass is growing to 500 - 600 mm high with a central stalk from which there are 10 - 60 mm racemes. The upper leaves are relatively short 70 mm long by 5 mm wide. The length of the inflorescence is about 150 mm. This grass grows on the transition from a wet Melaleuca woodland to drier Open Eucalyptus forest. As it was very windy on the day I couldn't easily take a photo in the field. Perhaps a Urachloa sp.

Dimeria was abundant at this location, with plants in many different sizes. This was one of the more robust ones.
There was a much smaller plant growing beneath this clump, with narrower leaves (probably about 2-3 mm wide) and slightly shorter anthers (about 1.0 mm)
