I came upon this pair, the snake had his jaws clamped around the frog. As I took photos, the snake opened it's mouth suddenly, but neither moved for several seconds. As I took more pictures, the snake finally took off and the frog hopped away. I wasn't sure if I was happy for the escaped frog or sad for the snake without lunch.

Just emerging from the very wet Halstead Meadow in Sequoia Kings National Park, CA, USA. Meadow is being restored after serious erosion left over from cattle grazing in the early 1900s. Very cool project to look at if you're driving on the Generals Highway.

Tree frog on the southeast slopes of Mount Starr King. I saw a small leaping movement out of the corner of my eye, and expected to see a grasshopper. Instead it was a tiny frog!

Newt season at Armstrong Redwoods' bullfrog pond along the east ridge trail. Along with the mating pair pictured, I saw half a dozen or more individuals on the same use trail.

This individual was one of a troop of about forty, moving across the landscape. This troop was seen in the wilderness area of the Ugab River valley. Most of the year there is utterly no flow in the mainstem. Access to this roadless region is only by small planes capable of landing on the desert floor, since there are no airstrips within 100 miles.

On the afternoon of March 13, 2013, the XplorMor team was relaxing with other members of a team exploring the jungles of the Darien, Panama.
Our expedition had been successful in locating petroglyphs, believed to be at least 5000 years old.
While walking the Playa Muerto beach we noticed a large Hercules Beetle.
