The individual on the right is believed to be a Western Australian Salmon (speared by Ian Puckeridge). Note the more yellow pectoral fins. Image 2 is of the Western Salmon's gill rakers (short and thick). This is compared to image 3 of an Eastern Australian Salmon's gill rakers (thin and elongate). This has been checked with Julian Hughes who believes it is likely a Western Australian Salmon
Very curious individual, kept swimming close to the face of both me and my buddy (and i mean close, we kept backing away, and it kept touching the glass of our masks) and underneath us for a few minutes.
Adult in sea-grass on a shore dive. I've included 6 pics of the same individual. The last 3 pics all include a decorator crab,Naxia aurita,on the far side of the subject fish's head.In pics 4 and 5 it and the flat-head are both watching me closely, but in 6th pic the crab has decided to begin discretely moving away from this diver with his flashy camera, while the fish lingers.
