Newts eating the same worm. The newt on the right wrestled it way from the other. The worm was disgorged rapidly and the winner walked away pulling the spoils. As one might imagine, the stomach bulge of the looser disappeared as the worm was pulled out. The looser did not attempt to win back the prey. I saw multiple newt and worm encounters this night because conditions were perfect with many worms migrating on the surface of the soil. Rain had saturated the surface of the soil.
