Leaflet tier on ‘ohe mauka (Polyscias oahuensis). Larva found 22 viii, pupated 24 viii, adult eclosed 1 ix 2021. Larva spotted with the aid of @kevinfaccenda's binoculars!

I believe this is Megalagrion vagabundum, the Scarlet Kauai Damselfly, but its thoracic pattern was distinctly different from the many other M. vagabundum along the trail. I wondered if it might be M. hawaiiense, Hawaiian Upland Damselfly, but I have found no pictures of the form of this variable species occurring on Kauai. I think the size/structure fits vagabundum, though.
Also, I think this was the stream crossing of the sighting. It might have been the next one east or west, though.

P. siclus/f. seminolus? The illustration in Hamilton 1975 looks a bit like this individual. He describes the female sternite as essentially identical between the two, but to me, this individual doesn't look quite like: http://dpr.ncparks.gov/bugs/account_photo/16266_4.jpg.
