Hopped into our truck on Neill's Flats in Fredericton. I believe we managed to let it out when we reached Canada Street. Lucky for us! We had no clue it may have been a rare find.
Alighted on an employee's metal water bottle during a bankside lunch break after paddleboarding down from Taymouth. Seen on small coarse beach on shallow river. Likely a little cooler than 27°C. Little wind. Large conifers and deciduous trees as well as herbaceous growth in vicinity.
Our post-photo attempt to shoo the fly from the bottle unfortunately resulted in it falling into the water and being swept downstream.
