A green chiton attached to a half crab. We observed this alien looking commensal beast while undertaking an intertidal survey on the reefs off Hawera. It made us jump when we first turned over the rock.

my 777th observation has to be real special!
and this will be the oldest observation I'll submit on this profile
the only one taken before I started using iNat because it's just too special for me
learnt about it a few weeks before this and went to dairy farm
low and behold I saw this in the bushes!
feel so blessed and lucky that I recognised it

Growing on sandy soil in full sun. Abundant along a short stretch of coastline.

Prostrate or straggling habit; 7- or 9-foliate leaves; tiny pea flowers under 1 cm long; hairy stems, leaflets, calyx, corolla & legumes; pods with ~8-9 seeds and a prominent curved hook

Computer vision suggested genus Tephrosia for many of these photos. Very intrigued
