Typhloelmis finegan (Barr, Gibson, and Diaz, 2015)

A blind Elmid. Collected in drift at a spring on private property. Accessed and collected with permission and permits.

This is one of only a few larvae specimens collected of this species. Barr et al, 2015, described the species based on a single mature female, plus larvae.

Edit: 11/21/2019 Dr. Cheryl Barr has examined this beetle. Unfortunately, it is a female. The male of this species remains undescribed for now.

Длина рачка около 2-2,5 см.
Был выброшен на берег расходящимися от судна волнами, позже снова перебрался в воду. В этой точке вдоль берега плавало около 10 рачков.

Согласно консультациям специалистов по бентосу ИФБиБТ СФУ, в Енисее обитает только один байкальский вид рачков-бокоплавов с шипами - Pallasea cancelloides.
