These mushrooms are near a compost pile. The leaves on the ground are from a pear tree and also some Japanese maple leaves in the area too. In the 1st photo you can see a Japanese maple seedling sprouting.

First Morel I’ve seen in this area, this was a large one about 4 inches tall. Didn’t see any others. Did not harvest because of known heavy metals in point defiance’s soil, but was very tempted!
