Although the leaves are narrower than normal, the red base indicates tricoccum rather than burdickii. These 4 plants were very out of place, as they were the only plants of this species in the north section of the park that I saw, and here they were growing in the disturbed area with garlic mustard.
Hairs can be seen on the edges of the leaves, as well they look like pin pricks when being viewed head on.
Appears to be pretty local, only seen in 2 locations both by the grand river
