While walking around a grassy area on a trail in Evergreen Lake area, I came across Poison Ivy. I knew not to go anywhere close to this! It is an allergenic plant that can cause negative effects such as a rash and swollen skins with blisters. A saying that my mom always taught me was, "Leaves of 3 leave them be" An interesting fact is that this plant produces an oily sap that causes allergic reactions. It is technically considered to be a form of vine that runs along other plants or trees due to birds and animals spreading the seedlings of poison ivy after they eat the fruit dispersing the opportunity for poison ivy to grow anywhere outdoors.

I came across this stemmed weed called a Cutleaf Teasel at Evergreen Lake. One interesting fact is that this plant can grow up to 7 feet tall, and have spikey edges. This species can be easily dispersed and be found throughout nature. I really liked this picture that I took because you can tell that this coloring on the plant will only bloom more and become brighter. The plant likes warmth and sunlight and is killed during colder months. I found this organism in a grassy habitat and look how tall it is! Another interesting fact is that it is considered to be weeds. July is a great month for it to be growing, and the heat only makes it want to get bigger and spread!
