heard before seen, loud continuous buzzing I recognized as a wasp, probably a queen, which it was. It appeared to be about 2cm long when flying and when crawling on window. image 1 is after being killed by rapid effective fly swat.
This house has attracted many queen vespula wasps over the last 25 years. There used to be several a year, some trying to get into the house past netting screens. They and non-queens have also come down the light fittings into the room in the evenings.
I have been told the house surroundings are ideal for wasps. Large native and exotic trees, with natural ground litter of fallen branches, twigs, leaves etc. No chemicals.
Unconfident with my I.D, never seen a torrentfish in real life before. Seems like one though and not a bully, but could be wrong.
