Found in a very disturbed prairie fragment dominated by Racomitrium and Polytrichum, had rhizomorphs entangled with the basal stem of many Polytrichum, growing next to a pine sapling and below scotch broom. Two specimens found close together, only the younger, bug-free one collected for sequencing. Gills blue-green fluorescent, but nothing else. Tastes mild. Short stipe. Suspect it is the same species as iNat 180834466.
