While fishing, it swam up to our boat real slow, then stuck it's eyes out of the water and looked at us for a couple seconds then swam down out of sight. It was very cool to see it! If you need anything else on the sighting ect...more pics.. or whatever just let me know. Thanks
This fish was observed during a pelagic birding trip with the San Diego Audubon Society during the San Diego Bird Festival. It was lying horizontally on the surface, allowing a Western Gull (Larus occidentalis) to pick off ectoparasites.

Another Mola sighting by Elizabeth Steele-Collins. In these images a snout bump is visible, ruling out Mola tecta. Image 4 suggests clavus is scalloped but this may just be distortion. Jimble jellyfish are reported to be present in large numbers in the area so the Molas (at least 2 different individuals sighted) may be feeding on them. https://australianmuseum.net.au/jimble
