I saw the female first; then the black-backed male. Before I saw them, I had been hearing their distinctive squeaky call. Just across the creek to the north of where I saw them there are numerous Amyema congener growing on chinese elm, etc.
Possibly hybrid? - no red on the underside. In a tree then it flew down to the water to get a drink; I was hoping it might hop in for a quick bath and I would get some cute pix but instead it flew off to the southeast after drinking.
Female bird.
