Located on Pitch Pine branches near Lake Maratanza at Sam's Point Preserve, Minnewaska State Park, Cragsmoor, NY
A sample of this lichen was collected under special permit from the OPRHP, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, and sent to the New York Botanical Garden in NYC. It was identified by Dr. James C. Lendemer as:
Parmeliopsis capitata R.C.Harris ex J.W.Hinds & P.Hinds
and retained in the Steere Herbarium. Sample SP1075, catalogNumber 04275374
