Quite a family of these growing out of soil but close to an old rotten wattle log. I had to use flash, which has taken a bit of the blue-grey colour out of the cap surface.
Crust fungi with purple to navy centre. Younger sections had edges fading to white. Texture from velvety to course matte.
Growing on well rotted wood, less than 20mm diameter. Loosely covered by leaf litter.
Closed tall wet sclerophyll forest, dominated by Eucalyptus saligna, with a closed understory.
Found alongside a flat fire trail.
