Bird feeders

I have had two dead Pine Siskin birds in my yard. I’ve been feeding black oil sunflower seed in my feeders. It’s been a concern about the amount of seed and shells that fall under the tree where the feeders are. I reported the dead birds and used the protocol for disposing of them. It is recommended that feeders be cleaned thoroughly each time and dry and moved to a different place each time. Seed droppings and bird droppings need to be cleaned often.
I’m looking into quality feed other than sunflower seeds like sunflower chips that don’t leave waste and putting a hard surface under the areas of feeders that can easily be cleaned. I’m also going to spread feeders out in my yard in safe areas from any predators like stray cats...
I’m super upset over the bird deaths. Of course they may not have come from my area, but they’re in my yard.
PLEASE TAKE PRECAUTIONS FOR CLEAN AREAS IF YOU’RE FEEDING BIRDS. CLEAN BIRD BATHS WITH CHLORINE BLEACH EVERY COUPLE WEEKS. DISEASE IS EASILY SPREAD TO OTHER BIRDS.
LET’S WORK TOGETHER FOR HEALTHY ENVIRONMENTS FOR NATURE.
THANK YOU!
