Post 1: Streptopelia decaocto, a really cute bird.

My first post will be about Streptopelia decaocto, or Eurasian collared dove.
Streptopelia decaocto is a bird of the family Columbidae, and is present in both Asia and Europe. In Italy, it is present in all regions and is very common.
Streptopelia decaocto has a light grey coloured body and a darker tail. On it's neck there is a black "collar". The bill is black and the legs are red.
This species can be found in cities, but it's more common in more open areas (like in the countryside, where I take my pictures). It is a very social species: once, I saw about 10 of them on a tree!
They make a very distinctive "tu-tuuu-tu" to communicate. They get easily afraid, so it was hard to make the photos of my identifications, but i still managed to do it!

Hey! I'm Gond, and this is my first post!

Hello, people of iNaturalist! I'm Gond (not my real name obviously) and I'm from Italy, specifically Sesto Fiorentino (near Florence). I'm 14 year old so I guess I'm a "black sheep" amongst all the biologists, botanics etc. that are on iNaturalist (really love you guys btw).

I like fossils and anything related to paleontology, but i also like insects or arthropods in general, birds, reptiles, and amphibians. Although I don't have the same "research tools" as real, adult scientist I'll try to do my own researches, in my possibilities. So...yeah, this and help me identify more and more species! Thank you for reading!
