Hemipyrellia ligurriens 瘦叶带绿蝇
2023.9.23补：瘦叶带绿蝇T3的缘鬃列通常强壮而稀疏，通常10-12根。一些大型绿蝇则会更密集
Hemipyrellia ligurriens is a green fly similar to Lucilia in appearance. Hemipyrellia and Hypopygiopsis(another genus of Luciliini we can find in Asia) can be seperated from Lucilia by the appearance of numerous black hair on katatergite. But that is very hard to see in the usual field photos. Here I explain how I identify male Hemipyrellia ligurriens from others in China and nearby regions.
First, Hemipyrellia and Hypopygiopsis have their male terminalia well-developed and exposed. That means we can see their tergite 6-9 stretch out under the abdomen like Aldrichina grahami.

The shape of T5 is also slightly different: it tends to be more rounded,"three-dimensional", easier to be seen from above

As about Hemipyrellia and Hypopygiopsis, Hypopygiopsis is much bigger and their male terminalia is also much bigger. Hypopygiopsis either has a golden face or has distinctive fringes on legs like https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/51382388
The two genus are easy to be seperated.
Other features of Hemipyrellia ligurriens that may help identification
- frons width: interfron ≈ parafron ≈ ocellus diameter
- front femur has very long ventral setae
- calypter white or creamy
the angle between frons and face seems to be more distinctive

7.setae on T5 more distinctive
瘦叶带绿蝇与绿蝇属物种长得很相似。绿蝇族中，带绿蝇属、巨尾蝇属、绿蝇属在亚洲可见。其中带绿蝇属与巨尾蝇属可以通过下侧背片的直立黑色纤毛与绿蝇属区分，不过这个特征在生态照中几乎不可见。

第五背板的形状也经常不同，瘦叶带绿蝇的第五背板更加圆润、立体且后缘更宽，因着生角度原因从上面看时相较于绿蝇属更容易被观察到

带绿蝇属和巨尾蝇属不难区分，巨尾蝇体型很大、露尾节明显更大。且它们要么颜具金黄色粉被、要么腿部有大量长而密集的曲毛（雄性）
瘦叶带绿蝇其他一些能够帮助鉴定的特征：
1，宽度：间额=侧额≈前单眼直径
2.前股节腹部的鬃极长
3.腋瓣白色
4.触角基部处，额平面与颜平面的夹角看似比很多绿蝇更显著，使头部形状不同
5.触角长，微带橙黄色
6.后中鬃2，第一对后中鬃不超过第二对后背中鬃
7.第五背板上的毛与鬃更显著
