I'm a USDA-ARS biologist based in Logan, Utah, USA, in the Pollinating Insect Research Unit (PIRU). Current projects include assessing the status of a rare poppy-specialist bee (Perdita meconis) that occurs in the Mojave desert region of the U.S. Known P. meconis host plants include species in the genera Arctomecon and Argemone. Escholzia species are of special interest in 2024.
