My research background is in horticultural, turfgrass, and forest entomology. So I have spent a lot of time on very few species, like spidermites, Japanese beetles, emerald ash borers. But my main interest is biodiversity, and the complex food webs to be found even in roadside ditches. Currently I study pollinators in Willamette Valley prairies. I have a project on iNaturalist, White Witch Watch, that documents observations of Thysania agrippina, and our quest to identify the immature stages of that species.
