Jochen is a broad spectrum amateur naturalist – hunter, fisher, mushroom forager – living in Metchosin on Southern Vancouver Island in Canada on a cliff, 180m above Sea level, in a piece of second growth forest, surrounded by all sorts of wild life, including orchids and a myriad of other wild flowers, a host of insects, Birds of many kinds, and a family of about half a dozen deer. His core interest is preserving and supporting biodiversity. Recording what is there is a small step to this end.
