I'm a professor of Biology at Tufts University in Boston, where I teach Biostatistics and do research in ecology, behavior, and evolution. Among other things, my students and I have studied the courtship and mating behavior of (mainly) North American fireflies.

Passionate about science communication, I recently wrote a popular book , Silent Sparks: The Wondrous World of Fireflies, and gave a TED talk about firefly behavior and evolution. I'm currently working on and writing about firefly conservation (silentsparks.com). If you're curious, follow me on Twitter @silent_sparks.
