I'm a plant population and community ecologist. I retired from the School of Biological Sciences, University of Nebraska - Lincoln as George Holmes University Professor. I now live and work in Salida, CO. Research specialty = plant population and community dynamics with an emphasis on the role of insect-plant interactions, especially floral herbivory/seed predation, in those dynamics. Applied interest: biological control of weeds. Main study system: native thistles (Cirsium spp.) in the Great Plains and intermountain West.
