My first love is Australian native plants and their use as habitat for all our fascinating critters. My 3/4 acre 'wildlife friendly garden' contains some remnant lowland littoral rainforest as well as plantings of local species and a few fruit trees. We back onto coastal reserve which, while degraded, nevertheless clearly demonstrates the succession of plants that have colonised from the foredune over the 7,000-year-old sand dunes to the road. It has been fascinating to watch regeneration in action, and see how birds, insects and other critters have made our place their home as well.
