Anza Borrego

After our 2 days (sans showers) at granite mountain, we departed for Anza Borrego Desert Research Center, taking a break at Joshua Tree National Park to get some hiking and INat’ing done. While at Joshua tree, we learned how to pick out some more common genera like Eriogonum, distinctive for its branching habit which I will call polychotomous, separating into 3 - and sometimes more – branches from one point.
From Anza Borrego DRC we checked out Coyote Canyon, which would’ve been cool solely because it was the first time we saw running water (aside from our sinks) on our trip. Because of the easy access to water, this area large variety of plants, several of which were in flower too! It was awesome to see some plants with their more easily identified traits outside of INaturalist, like lupines and Phacelias. This was also the one location where I was able to make an ID of all three genera (Opuntia, Psorothamnus, and Ambrosia) from my presentation in one location so that was neat I guess (kidding).
