It is a little bit chillier this morning than it has been. I fired up the propane heater on my patio to break the chill during my morning cup of coffee. As the sun rises, little green creatures crawl out into the rays of sunlight. Last summer must have been a good egg laying season for my back patio Green Anoles. I have seen at least four different Anoles scurrying across the foliage like little dinosaurs in the past few days.

Green Anoles are small lizards native to the southeastern United States, and extremely common in most backyards in Georgia. The local people used to call them "chameleons" because they can change colors from green to brown. However, they are not true chameleons.

Until laws were passed restricting the possession of native wildlife, people often kept Anoles in terrariums as pets. I prefer to watch them scuttle freely through my yard. I'd rather take a picture, that take them from their habitat!

Haha -- I was JUST talking to someone about how anoles remind me of little dinosaurs. So true! :)
