American Goshawk Accipiter atricapillus is split from Northern (now Eurasian) Goshawk A. gentilis (Clements 2007:43)
North America now has its own species of goshawk, adults of which differ in several ways from its Eurasian relative. Identification will not be impacted except by the possibility of an extremely rare vagrant.
