On solonetzic soil In mixed/moist mixed grassland (rangeland) above the badlands
Nearby species: Xanthoparmelia chlorochroa (Tumbleweed Shield Lichen) and Opuntia fragilis (Brittle Prickly Pear Cactus)
muscicolous on racomitrium in subalpine
On moss on spruce and possibly on sap
not sure if on silt or dung. tbd
Growing on an old growth balsam poplar overlooking a small lake.
