Esta mañana vimos ballenas en la bahía, cuatro de ellas, nadando y buceando frente al muelle de Los Muertos. Además, los piqueros pescan en las mismas aguas. Debe haber muchos peces para atraer toda esta atención.

En nuestra caminata por el Malecón a última hora de la tarde, observamos dos Gallaretas Americanas ( americana) paradas en el borde de la barra de arena en la desembocadura del Río Cuale. Habíamos visto una de esas aves en la orilla del río cerca del restaurante Oscar durante nuestra caminata por la IslaCuale el sábado por la mañana. Nuestros primeros avistamientos de esta temporada.

I heard the call of the Cinnamon-bellied Saltator (Northern Gray Saltator) again this morning after not hearing it the past two days. There was a brief but violent wind storm on Monday evening after sunset (an electrical transformer serving the Avalon Condominiums was exploded by a touching branch). I was worried that the bird had decided to move on to a safer place.

I heard the call for the first time on the morning of February 6 and then again on subsequent mornings. Each time a short whistle with a rising pitch ending in a note higher than the start (like the first part of a wolf whistle).

Vi un par de delfines esta mañana justo antes de las 7:30. Dos delfines nadando de norte a norte del muelle de Los Muertos. Mi primer avistamiento de la temporada 2023-2024.
